Small Business Schools Provide Education in Entrepreneurship

Author: Michael Bustamante

Small Business Schools design their courses of study to prepare students with the skills to start their own small businesses, or to become stellar employees of small business organizations. Small business programs feature courses designed specifically for learning to support the startup and operation of small businesses.

Small business school programs teach how to become and enjoy being one's own boss by gaining the knowledge and confidence it takes to strike out on one's own. For those who do not fit the corporate mold, and who equate entrepreneurship, assumption of risk, organization, management, and administration with individual professional ambition, starting a new small business may be the most attractive and rewarding option for fulfilling professional goals and dreams of prosperity.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Small Business Administration Degree (SBA), Small Business and Entrepreneurship (BBE) are some degrees available in small business schools. Degree programs for small business entrepreneurship may provide an all-inclusive interdisciplinary focus on studies. Courses in accounting, economics, finance, business strategies, business law, management, mathematics, statistics, sales, and marketing will be presented, as well as practical issues of payroll, planning, budgeting, funding, and staffing. Courses in English language, communications, speech, business ethics, business etiquette, human resources, sciences, and computer applications should also be expected for a complete education in operation of a small business.

Small business entrepreneurship requires special qualities of intuition, diligence, ingenuity, perseverance, leadership, independence, ambition, passion, creativity, and determination to overcome obstacles. Most successful entrepreneurs have overcome several small business failures before finding success. But it should also be noted that small business entrepreneurs provide most of all new jobs that come onto the market, contribute more to the economy, are more creative, and altogether produce more than large corporations.
